Denim: The Fashion Staple
Denim: The Fashion Staple

It may have come as a surprise for some to see that jeans are still as trendy as they were decades ago especially to the inventor, Levi Strauss himself. It is astounding just how much jeans have evolved over the years in order to keep up with the ever changing trends at times setting the trends themselves. No matter what time of the year it is or where you travel, you will see the majority of people wearing jeans. The latest trendsetters, celebrities or fashionistas, are currently been snapped by photographers wearing the most recent style of jeans. No other form of trousers comes close to the popularity of the infamous denim.

No matter if you are young or old, male or female there will be a style of jeans to suit you. There does not even seem to be an occasion where this form of clothing would be deemed as inappropriate. Denim would still meet the dress codes for formal events, weddings and working at the office. The denim may look casual when worn with a t shirt or polo shirt, but swap these for a more formal shirt and jacket, and breathe new life into the outfit. It is this versatility that has sustained jeans popularity for decades.

Jeans were invented in the late 19th century but it was not until the 50s where they really took off as they were mainly worn by teenagers after watching James Dean in the movie Rebel Without A Cause. After the release of this film, everyone wanted to look as cool and stylish as James Dean. In those days, it was very common to wear these with a white t shirt. Fashion has evolved and now most commonly you will see t shirts, polo shirts, sweaters and formal shirts worn with jeans. As jeans come in a variety of colours, this allows the wearer to mix and match with other items of clothing.

Jeans have repeatedly continued to follow trends and progress when most believe they were just a fashion phase. When Jeans were first introduced, no one could have predicted their impact and longevity in our society. History has told that Jeans, more specifically Bench Jeans have made a significant impact in our culture and will continue to do so for decades to come.
