What is LCD TV?
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TV is the next generation TV after the CRT TV. It uses molecules of liquid crystals (pixels) which allow the light to pass through and as the molecules twist viewing objects also improve. It uses CCFLs (Cold Cathode Florescent Lamps) to illuminate the pixels.
Basic Features ofLCD
Unlike CRT TV it is Flat, lighter and consumes less power
It uses a white light of CCFLs (Cold Cathode Florescent Lamps) to provide pictures
It uses active matrix LCD based on thin film transistors (TFT) which controls LCD's pixels.
In LCD each color pixels uses three sub pixels red, green and blue color filters.
Advantages of LCD TV
Higher resolution
No danger of burn in i.e it avoids static images
Very light weight and convenient to carry or shift
Disadvantages of LCD TV
Lower contrast ratio
Viewing from an angle shifts brightness and color thus picture looks like a ghost
Picture quality in true black color cannot be achieved in LCDs
Pictures of fast action videos are some time un-viewable
What is Plasma TV?
Plasma TV is made of a technologyof Plasma display panel which is just a flat panel and creates pictures from a gas (plasma) which contains xenon & neon atoms.
Advantages of Plasma TV
Can be viewed from wide angle
Very good color variations and also generates true black color levels
All pixels increase uniformly to give correct image
Higher life span
Can be put in a wall
Disadvantages of Plasma TV
Not able to provide brighter picture in a dark room
Burnout tube or backlight can not be repaired
Low resolution
What is LED TV?
LED(Light Emitting Diodes) TV is the advanced version of LCD & Plasma TV which uses advanced technology both LCD & Plasma and uses tiny light emitting diodes which illuminates the pixels and display in good quality at the screen.
Advantages of LED TV
Low energy consumption
Its color, contrast and true black color reflection is best among others
Better viewing of pictures from an angle
Long life span & shock resistant
Disadvantages of LED TV
Price is very high
Its LED light bad for health
Overall Remarks:Among this three all are using of same category of LCD panel. Looking at price and the kind of technology they use it is in general the plasma TVs are emerging as the best in all. As there are no much difference between Plasma TV and LED TV and further looking at the technology up gradation from LCD TV to plasma and their price range it is better to have plasma at this stage. Once price of LED comes down it can be convenient and good value for money to have it.
