UK 2010 Elections Produces the First Coalition Governement in 30 Years

Inside the UK, there are a range of various political parties which the British people can vote in each time there's a by election or a primary general election.

Usually speaking only two primary political parties have sufficient of the British vote to become the principal ruling party in Britain. So that you can win an out appropriate majority to run the country. One of the general election rules or requirements is to have won 326 seats for their right to operate and rule the British Parliament.

In this years election of 2010 the conservatives won three hundred and six seats with Labour winning 258 seats and the Liberal Democrats winning fifty seven seats.

This meant that no party had an outright majority win of seats. For the first time in more than thirty years Britain had a hung parliament. The British Press had foretold this unusual event. The Labour party was still in power hoping to ask the Lib Dems to share in a coalition authorities. This was not to be.

Several days immediately after the election finished. The Labour leader and Prime Minister Gordon Brown of the UK resigned leaving way for the Tories and Lib Dems to form a Coalition Govt.

This then meant that David Cameron became the youngest Prime Minister of the UK. Immediately after a couple of days of negotiations between the Tories and Liberal Democrats. They joined forces and fought out between them , the rest of the cabinet members positions. A new Bristish UK government was formed which included five Liberal Democrats inside the British Cabinet.

As each party will will need to work together closely more than the next few many years as uncertainty exists around the globe. Everybody knows of the changes and challenges that any new govt face due to the global meltdown. The British public are a little nervous on the up and coming budget that follows plus the cuts that is going to be needed to be able to try and balance the economy.

If you wish to go to the Houses of Parliament they might be found on the South Bank from the River Thames. Westminster tube is the closest underground station towards the building.
