Successful Email Marketing Means Keeping The Message Simple

Have you noticed how more and more manufacturers are not including complicated instruction manuals with their products these days?Instead of the closely-spaced booklets running into scores of pages you are now more likely to receive nothing more than a four page quick start-up guide' with your product instead. Then, if you want more detailled information, you can either download a manual from the internet or consult it on the product provider's website.

Having struggled for many years trying to make sense of over-complicated manuals I fully applaud this approach and I would recommend that internet marketers adopt a similar style with their email marketing strategy.

When compiling an email marketing campaign your aim should be to keep your emails simple to understand, consise and strictly to the point. If you use the email so sell then you will have to go into great detail and risk your reader giving up and clicking the delete' button.

However if you use your email to gently introduce your product perhaps concentrating on just one benefit at a time you can build up an interest in your product over a number of days. You might decide not to even include a link to your sales page until, say, the third email and by that time you should have built up an anticipation for your product that will have your readers only too happy to follow the link to your sales page.

Obviously this is a more subtle approach and takes more thought and consideration than the buy this now' method of internet marketing but it should prove more effective in the long run.

Also don't fall into the trap of only communicating with your customers when you actually have something to sell them. Instead you could send out regular emails where you do nothing more than inform your customers about trends or developments in your chosen niche. That way you help establish yourself as an expert in the niche and, given time, this should have a positive effect on your sales figures.

Consider also using emails to send out regular promotions, e-newsletters or even to provide online training and tuition if this is appropriate to your niche. By varying the content and type of emails you send out you will be providing a valuable service for your customers and gain a huge advantage over your rivals who just use emails as selling tools.

Some business owners love writing their own promotional material while others dread having to send a single email let alone a whole series of them.If you fall into the latter category then you can always outsource your email campaigns to a professional writer. Maybe you could provide a list of bullet points to be turned into a email, or a theme for the email to contain and leave it up to the writer to craft the finished product.

Alternatively you might want to dictate your email, or email series, into a microphone, save it as an audio file and send this recording to a transcription service to be written up for you.
