If you want to go on holiday to a country that has plenty to offer, you should give serious consideration to Singapore. It has many surprises to spring on you, and regardless of the kind of holiday you want to have, you will be able to have that holiday in this wonderful location.

Singapore is actually an island and it is becoming more and more popular as a tourist destination all the time. The government has taken many steps to ensure that the country develops with the tourists in mind, and that means there is even more to see and do there now than there used to be.

Chinatown is always a big draw and it is nearly two hundred years old, if you trace it right back to its very beginnings. It sprawls over quite a large area and if you want to taste some authentic Chinese dishes this is the place to come to. Take your time exploring areas such as Tanjong Pagar and Pagoda Street to really drink in the atmosphere.

Elsewhere in Singapore you can see the famous Merlion. This is a statue that is as impressive as it is tall and located in the Marina Bay area. Take the time to see and explore the Merlion Park while you are there as well. The Merlion statue is a cross between a lion and a fish, and the name comes from the fact that mer' means the sea. The second part of the Merlion name should be quite obvious when you see the statue for yourself.

The Singapore Zoo is another delightful place to go and visit if you are staying in Singapore for a few days at least. This is a sensational place to visit at any time of the day, and indeed you can even see it at night if you opt to take your place on the Singapore Night Safari. It might be an idea to book in advance though if you can, as this particular method of seeing the zoo tends to be extremely popular.

Of course every holiday destination has some kind of history attached to it. If you would like to know more about the Chinese culture and its beginnings, one place you can visit is the Haw Par Villa. This is actually a kind of theme park but it reveals much of the history of Chinese culture and it provides a superb day out for you as well.

You can find a nice hotel Singapore to stay in while you are there too, giving you a good base to come back to after your exploration of this amazing destination. It's the best way to ensure you don't miss out on anything.
