Symbian will not withdraw from the smartphone market

Currently Nokia declared that MeeGo will become the default operation system of the N series smartphones. For the Symbian system, the former CTO of Symbian Charles Davis declared to leave the Nokia Company and join the navigation manufactuer TomTom recently. It seems that the Symbian is going to become a marginal product. But in the following time, will the Symbian withdraw from the mobile phone market?

Great changes are not only taken place in wholesae mobile phone market, but also the smarphone market. If we go back to one year before, the Symbian is the king at that time. According to the IDC data, the Symbian mastered by Nokia occupied 46.4% share on the smartphone market in the first half of 2009. The share of RIM was 19.9%, 11.7% for apple and 11% for WindowsMobile. It's not hard to see that the totall share of Blackberry, apple and WindowsMobile can resist the Symbian's.

However, in the following time, Symbian is greatly chanllenged by iPhone and Android. The share of iPhone is becoming larger and larger. When the iPhone 4 is launched, there's no any item can compete with it. It's so attractive that the system was damaged due to the large order at the fist day and it's snapped up in all the places on its opening day.

From the prospect of technology, the 3.5 inch screen of iPhone 4 is common, but the IPS material and 960*640 high resolution makes it to be top-leve. Except that, compared with the former generation products, the 9.3mm model appears to be more attractive. What's more, the iOS4 offers users wonderful operating experience.

An internal strife crops up. Facing the challenge of iPhoneOS and Android, Symbian is made to be open source. If the owner of Symbian Nokia chose to resist at that time, the Symbian could still be competive. Unluckily, the MeeGo appeared. With the support of Nokia and Intel, MeeGo is developed in a very fast way. Thus, Symbian keeps losing and losing in the outside and inside.

The mobile phone is becoming more and more like a mini portable computer instead of a simple phone. The users not only make calls or send messages with mobile phone, but also send and receive e-mail, browse the webpages and playing games. They are eager for the new software in the program shop, not only the certain program offered by manufactuers.

On this point, though Android and iOS is used in mobile phone, they have something to do with the personal computer. But Symbian only entrenches itself in mobile phone. Seen from this perspective, Symbian is normal to fail.

Before the coming of iPhone 4, Android is almost superior any other smart systems and becomes the public concern. We can even say the rising of Android begins the decreasing of Nokia's market share. Nokia declares that Symbian will be still used in the low-end Nokia, Samsugn and Sony Ericsson mobile phones. We can say the nightmare of Symbian begins with the coming of iPhoneOS and Android. But it's early to say the withdrawing of Symbian.
