How To Produce A Video For Your Website

The most amazing thing you can do to promote your company, product or service is to start to produce video. Video is a great way to get your message across on your site and also a wonderful to demonstrate a product or get a testimonial on a service. Video can also be use when launching a product or opening a new store.

The biggest problem we find when people decide to produce video for their business is the actual creation from a technical and psychological point of view. The bottom line is that you need to have a consistent way of making and distributing video.

Let's look at making a video. There are 3 ways to produce video.

1 Talking directly to camera

Producing a direct to camera piece is probably the simplest and quickest way to get videocontentonto your website. The key is to get the right camera, lighting and microphone. YouTube nowadays likes High Definition and Wide Screen, therefore I would suggest using something like the Kodak Zi8 which produces crystal clear wide screen video in 720p High Definition. This can be easily downloaded onto your PC using the built in USB port.

This can be uploaded directly to YouTube and looks fantastic. If you want to edit the film, add titles and transitions you'll need to put it into video editing software, there is a multitude of products on the market all you have to make sure is that whatever you choose make sure it outputs in 720p.

2 Screen Capture a Presentation While a narration goes over the top

To capture Presentations on a PC you can use Camtasia and Powerpoint for the PC and Screenflow and Keynote on the Mac. Both these solutions create incredibly professional end results and in these products you can edit and overdub music and then output to 720p for the best results.

3 Screen Capture of an actual demonstration of a software or website on screen.

Demonstrating products directly on screen is a great way to show how easy a product is or use this method to train clients on how to get the best from the product.

I have used the last method to give potential clients on a tour of the website to show them how to get the most from the site. This is particularly useful for membership or continuity sites.

If you don't mind the public viewing your videos then you need to upload it to YouTube and other video sharing sites. You can do this individually for maximum SEO leverage or if you are producing lots of video then you can use something like TubeMogal.

Video is perfect for driving traffic and can be incorporated in many Social Media Platforms As discussed in a Recent Webinar for InterMedia101 (you can see a recording on the our website You need to sign up for free membership once you have you can access the article and videos here http://www.internetmarketingwhizkidz.com/intermedia101-webinar-online-video-in-internet-marketing-and-social-media )

The real secret to great video is not in the technology at all, it's all about the script. If you have a good script then 90% of the job is done. This does not mean you can't just talk to camera, and in many ways people love this. What it does mean that you should always have a strong single message. Don't tell people 5 different things in one video. Just concentrate on delivering a single, strong message.
