Not the news I needed to hear when Tinnitus first struck me. Because as a professional musician my livelehood was affected as well as my personal life. The immediate consequence was that my normally perfect pitch was very much imperfect. It then became difficult, though not impossible to perform solo. This meant that it was impossible for me to play with other artists.
My Tinnitus arrived suddenly, without warning. One day a constant buzzing in my ear, which alternated with a swishing sound that seemed to come from my head. The most puzzling question was why? I was in good health, with a reasonable diet and regular exercise.Plus, no physical or emotional problems. In short I was depressingly normal.
But my life due to Tinnitus was becoming rapidly abnormal! As you can appreciate, my level of stress and apprehension rose. As I contemplated how I could continue my chosen profession, buy food, and pay the mortgage!
I discovered no solutions after many Doctors and equally many tests. That's what led me to look into more natural; healing possibilities. Particularly Chinese Medicine.
Their attitude, as you may know, is exactly the opposite of Western Medicine. The Chinese view the body as a collection of systems physical and emotional that operate in balance. Illness, by their definition, is an imbalance in the body. The mission of Chinese Medicine, then, is to correct this balance, thus restoring health.
There are no side effects, as would be expected with chemically based remedies, becasue the treatments are totally herbal. Some of the more common herbs the Chinese suggest for Tinnitus are: ginko biloba, wild hyssop, wild oats, vitamins B and and choline.
