Bends and Speeds
Bends and Speeds

We have all experienced it at one point or another in our driving career; where we have got to a bend and have had to brake suddenly due to the bend being far more severe than we thought.

So we all should consider the process that we use to assess the severity of the bend, because in a lot of cases, misjudging this can be quite severe, and potentially fatal.

There are a number of clues that we can glean from the environment around the bend, with the most obvious being the road signs and markings, but we should also look at the line of the trees and bushes to see how they are shaped, and street lights and buildings.

The width of a road should also be considered as a factor because the narrower the road is, the less space you have to manoeuvre, especially if there is a car approaching.

You can also tell the severity of the bend by the skid marks in the road. if there are long marks on the road beneath you, then you can see that drivers before you have made mistakes on judging the speed and you should slow down to avoid whatever hazard they experienced and prevent a crash. If there are other cars ahead of you on the road, take note of their speed and positioning.

If you are driving on the roads in the UK then you must have Car Insurance. Cheap policies are readily available online and will save you considerably.
