subject: Saw 6 Movie Trailer [print this page]

Well, it's officialWell, it's official. The newest installment in the saw movies, Saw 6 is coming to a theater near you this coming Halloween, 2009. I took a look at the rumors and the Saw 6 movie trailer and here's what we know so far (please do not read if you don't want any idea what will happen since there may be some minor spoilers here):

Most of the original cast are gone. Readers will remember that Jigsaw died way back in Saw 3 and virtually everyone involved in the original series is now gone as well. The one man left is Hoffman, who as fans are aware is the sole remaining protege of Jigsaw.

He set the traps back in Saw 5 and now he's setting a new series of traps in the latest version. As we saw in Saw 5, he doesn't have quite the same "morality" about his traps as Jigsaw did. He theoretically gives people choices, but the reality is that he will happily make people miserable, make them make their choices and then still kill them just for the sport of it all.

The Saw 6 movie trailer tells us very little. We are shown a series of short flashes of scenes. Some of them do feature Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) so we can assume there is some additional tape of him speaking which will be revealed in the movie or perhaps we will be treated to still more flashbacks to show us more of his early life, ala Saw 4.

Then we see the famous Jigsaw doll once again calmly explaining things and offering us the twisted reasons for the torture we are about to watch. There is a man screaming "I'm not gonna die," a bank of TV screens, red lights, all kinds of fun things in fact.

Several dark and dingy rooms are shown as well where we can imagine torture is to take place (one wonders why the sets need to look dark and dingy - Dexter seems to get away with torture even though he shows us places that are spotless and clean).

We are then told that there will be 6 chances, 6 choices and 6 lessons. One can only hope. At this point, I am of the opinion that Saw 6 (based on what I saw of the saw 6 movie trailer) is purely a chance for the studios to milk the series for all its worth.

Since the second movie, the Saw franchise has been moving downhill in its level of believability and I don't exactly hold out high hopes for this latest installment. But if you're into the guts and misery scene, check it out this Halloween in theaters everywhere.
