Exeter Cathedral has got to be one of Exeter's most popular visitor attractions. The Cathedral founded in 1050 is known as St Peter's Cathedral as it was dedicated to Peter, one of the early followers of Jesus. The Cathedral was established to provide support for the Bishop of Exeter in his ministry and mission across Devon and to be a place of Christian worship and prayer. You will find the Cathedral just off Exeter's main High Street. The Cathedral itself is a beautiful piece of architecture and the two magnificent towers of the Cathedral look dramatic against the skyline.The setting of the Cathedral is perfect as it is surrounded by green lawns with little cafes, restaurants and bookshops. You can sit under a tree, relaxing in the peace and tranquillity not believing that you are a few short steps away from the city centre of Exeter.The library at the Cathedral is well worth a visit and the cathedral has guided tours that are available daily. Exeter Cathedrals famous choir sing evensong most days at 3pm and the Cathedral is open to the public. There is also a gift shop, toilets and caf within the Cathedral. The Cathedral plays host to concerts, organ recitals, exhibitions and festivals.
For the ministry to continue and the cost to maintain the Cathedral is over 1million a year. To support these costs there is a charge to visitors and tourists for admission.

Monday Saturday 9.30am 4.45pm The Cathedral may be closed to visitors when special services are being held on Saturdays
