Not everybody can always watch movies online, whether they are independent films or not. But if you cannot watch streaming movies or online movies, there are plenty of video players to use if you only can watch a film that is on your computer, on a DVD or on an external hard drive for example.

There are today plenty of video players you can use. It only depends on what you want and also which use you would have for them. It seems for example that not all media players can read all the formats. For example, it can happen that the media player you already have cannot ready a movie you want to watch on your computer or laptop because it is an MP4 or a dot AVI.

You can obviously buy very advanced media players if you want but nowadays, a lot of good media players are available to download on the internet for free or are simply already installed on your computer or laptop.

Going back to the format of a film or simply a video, AVI is a format used a lot for movies. AVI is short for audio video interleave and was first introduced by Microsoft at the beginning of the nineties. AVI has the advantage that it can support audio and video at the same time thus improving the quality and avoiding time difference when you watch a film between the image and the sound.

More modern formats like the MP4 offer more interesting possibilities. This format which is much more recent and modern than the AVI format tends to be used a lot to store digital videos and digital audio files used on streaming films for example. It is also widely used on portable music devices.

It is important to have good sound and video cards on a computer to be able to watch a movie at a good quality, but it is also important to have a good media player to make sure you enjoy even more watching a film on your computer, on your laptop or on your netbook.

In the end, there are different music and video media players on the market. Choosing one is going to depend more on your taste and what use you have. But a lot of good media players like VLC for example or free. You will also find one or two media players already installed in your computer or laptop that can offer interesting features.
