It is said that achievements have a dual sides which has been proved by many solid historic stories. In 2010, once again, this saying has been tested by an impressive lingerie show, The Victorias Secret Fashion Show 2010. This show is one of the biggest events of the year in the fashion circle. The models who were invited to attend this show were super models. They were well-shaped, tall, thin, in a word, fabulous. Of course, this show won great success as it should be. However, there were quite a lot of people against such a kind of show as well.
Thus, a debate between the supporters and opponents came into being after the show. Some people were full of praise and they enjoyed the lingerie show. They believed that the whole human society has stepped into a fully civilized and developed age. People should be able to appreciate what we cannot appreciate in the ancient time.
To them, a lingerie show presents the very original thing, the human body and the underwear which is daily necessity to everyone. This show kind of tells people that we are moving forward and care more about people's basic needs instead of something that are shallow and impractical.
On the contrary, people who are against the lingerie show claims that lingerie is very personal and private. No such kind show should be held at all. Those models were too exposed and many people came to the show for the model instead of appreciating the lingerie. Besides, most of the lingerie presented in the show was not wearable at all. Thus they questioned the purpose of holding the lingerie show.
Both sides have very reasonable arguments for sure and both of them make sense. Personally, I think maybe it is much better to view the lingerie show from an aesthetic aspect. Why is the lingerie so special? As we all know that most outfits that showed in the runway don't fit the ordinary people, but we can still tolerate that and most of the time, enjoy the extraordinary shows. It is the same to lingerie shows. The lingerie show is also dramatic and fantastic just as all the other shows. I guess the real problem is not related to the exposed models, but related to the people who watch the shows.
I hold the belief strongly that in the future more lingerie shows would be held and more people can get the real meaning of having such kind of shows.
