We often try to find ways to relax and unwind. Sometimes this involves calming recreation, and sometimes it means finding ways to have fun. Life is full of stressful requirements that can cause us to feel its effects physically. For this reason, people try to find downtime so that they can recharge their energy. However, some things that we view as relaxing can harm us if we have or are prone to certain health conditions. If you have certain skin conditions that cause rashes, like eczema, it is important to find out what factors aggravate your eczema skin problems. This isn't always a simple thing to do.

You are out with your friends or at a party. You've had a long week and you think the stress has started to cause your skin rash to flare up. So at the party, you think that a glass of wine or beer with help soothe your nerves and stress. Well, think again; alcohol can actually make your flare up worse. It can increase your stress and fatigue levels and because it is a diuretic, it can cause dehydration. Your dehydrated skin makes your pores reduce in size causing clogging. If you really want to celebrate the weekend or a special occasion with some alcohol, make sure that your drink plenty of water afterward to rehydrate your cells; this will help to lessen the onset of the rash.

What soothes our nerves and stress better than comfort foods? Well, certain foods can exacerbate the effects of certain skin rashes. The redness that occurs with this skin condition is vascular dilation and is caused by eating carbohydrates that are high in calories. These foods include pastas and breads. This redness can be caused by sweet foods as well causing sugar spiking. So limit the amount of fatty foods you intake, make your meals smaller throughout the day instead of three large meals.

Spicy and acidic foods are becoming more and more popular at parties and restaurants. But remember that ingredients like vinegar, hot sauces and spices, peppers, tomatoes, citrus, and others can dilate the blood vessels. This effect also causes the reddening that is common with skin rashes. So when considering what to consume on a daily basis or just for a get together, remember what can aggravate your eczema skin problems.
