Easy Access to Annual Events and the City Centre When You Stay at a Resort in Rotorua

There's a lot more to Rotorua than meets the eye. A lot is talked about Rotorua, much of which centres around its rich Maori culture and the distinctive odour that rises from the geo-thermal depths below.

Rotorua, also known as "Sulphur City" and "Rotovegas", is the tourist hub of New Zealand's North Island. It is on the top of the list for many international travellers who land at Auckland's International Airport.

Just a 3 hour drive south is where you'll find this wonderful city. Its major claim to tourism fame rests on its cultural uniqueness. However there is more to this city than just its geothermal activity. Right throughout the calendar year there is a wide range of hugely popular activities that create appeal to people outside of the city and the country as well.

With a constant influx of people heading in and out of the city for the many events throughout the year, there is a lot of pressure on the accommodation industry. Thankfully, Rotorua has it covered. You'll find a hotel, motel, backpackers, bed and breakfast and resort in Rotorua, no matter which corner you turn.

Rotorua has a very large mountain bike scene and can lay claim to the title of being New Zealand's no.1 mountain bike destination. Just a few minutes out of the city centre there are thousands of hectares of beautiful forest awaiting exploration via mountain bike. Whakarewarewa Forest is littered with quality tracks, comprising of more than 70 kilometres of trails for riders of all levels. Rotorua has held the World Mountain Bike & Trials Championships, which suggests just how big the sport is here.

However there is a lot more outside of the mountain biking scene that lights up Rotorua throughout the year. A lot of people who come into the city for annual events will stay at a resort in Rotorua. These tend to be away from the city centre in some of the more relaxed environments around Lake Rotorua or amongst the bushland. Being a small city makes it easy for people to get from their resorts to events and the city centre itself.

Nearly every week of the year there is something going on, such as dancing, exhibitions, festivals, markets, fairs and expos, music concerts, theatre and various other sporting events. There's no wonder people tend to book their accommodation well in advance. So if you're planning on staying at a resort in Rotorua, you'd better get in quick.
