subject: Business Security-remote Surveillance-how To Keep An Eye On Your Business When You Are Not There [print this page]

I have owned my own business for the great majority of my life. When I didn't do that, I was a general manager and ran the business like it was my own with complete P&L responsibility. So I have the utmost respect for small business owners who are the backbone of the US economy. They are the risk takers, the job creators and the foundation of our free enterprise system.

I was a little surprised when I found out that 70 percent of all business losses are due to employee and customer theft. I knew it was high but I didn't think it was that high. Many businesses go to great lengths to cut down on those losses, usually with surveillance cameras. But how do business owners keep an eye on their businesses when they're not there and they can't be there 24/7.

There are two ways using remote surveillance through the Internet.

1. The first is using an IP camera. IP cameras plug directly into a computer or DVR and use an IP address to send video through a network using cat five cables so no extra hardware is required. IP cameras come with software that will support up to 16 cameras. And because they connect to a network you can login remotely and view or play back video. It is perhaps the cheapest way to keep an eye on your business when you can't be there. IP cameras are available for indoor or outdoor use and come either wired or wireless.

2. The second way is to get any kind of dome or bullet camera and place it in the location you want to watch. Then hook it up to either of four, eight or 16 channel embedded DVR. Up to 16 cameras can be supported. All functions for the DVR are contained on software encoded computer chips you can view in real to time and have a wide variety of features. But the best thing is to allow for remote Internet surveillance.

Start seeing what you may be missing when you can't be there with remote internet surveillance.

A home spy camera can be an even better deterrent than a burglar alarm or a security guard. A camera can be used to identify the bad guys catching them red handed indoors or outdoors.

Can you use a home spy camera for home, office or business? You actually can't afford to not have one! Find out what is going on when you are not there at home, your business or office with one of these technical marvels.

If you are reading this chances are crime has somehow touched your life directly or indirectly thru relatives, friends or neighbors. Don't become the next victim. Take some action today and get a home spy camera and find out what is going on when you are not there.
