The next step is to make sure your permalinks are written correctly, this is the text that comes after your domain, so it looks like this domainname.com/thisisthepermalink - make sure that it is clear and displays your keyword and isn't just a load of random numbers like some peoples blogs are, by making it look better you'll increase your chances when it comes to SEO.
If you use wordpress then your blog should be automatically pinged once you make changes or make new content, if it's not then be sure to ping your blog so that you can bring the search engines to your site, sometimes this isn't necessary but it gives out blog a good chance of getting indexed quicker which means are content is seen quicker!
Duplicate content - Make sure you don't duplicate content, duplicate content within the same website can be bad and Google won't credit you for it, make sure that you avoid duplicate content on the same website at all times!
Write interesting content - the better your content the more chance you have of making it rank in the websites. This is known as link bait if a piece of content is very well written and automatically attracts links. A very good piece of content can literally attract 1000's of links overnight which works wonders for SEO.
