subject: Survival Hunter Dps In World Of Warcraft Cataclysm By Mmocarts.com [print this page]

Here are a lot of changes happening in Patch 4.0 and the Cataclysm which will simplify things from talents to playstyle, but that doesn't mean you can't mess up your build. You still can it just might be harder to do so. Here are the best talent builds I found for level 85 in Cataclysm and patch 4.0.

This will essentially turn your pet into a monster. Make sure you have a Ferocity pet one that does DPS. Bestial Discipline, Improved Kill Command, Sic 'Em!, and Go for the Throat are just some of the key talents to your pet here. The Beast Mastery tree will send your pet into a raging state of DPS with lots of focus regeneration and the survival hunter side effect will be that it helps you out with your dps as well.

Marksmanship in patch 4.0 and Cata has also been simplified. Most of the new talents are focused on increased damage, attack power, and focus regeneration. You go into the survival hunter tree for some haste, and point of no escape will allow you to increase your critical strike chance just by launching a frost trap out in the area. Won't work on things that are immune though of course.

We will also not be speculating on what the optimal talent build will be -- that too is still very premature. I fully expect the talents to continue to change and refine as the beta continues, so we aren't going to trouble ourselves with those details yet. Besides which, we can't truly compare numbers of survival hunter until we hit level 85.

No longer really about surviving, this build will give you some more excitement on raids as you can play around with traps to make a decent change in your dps when they are used properly. Grabbing basic talents from beast mastery tree, one with nature, and some efficiency out of the marksmanship tree. This build could very well be the leader of DPS in Cataclysm. Of course a lot has changed with survival hunter so only time will tell.

Finally, we aren't talking about movement-based DPS, as that is still changing frequently. We don't yet know just where that will land. We're looking at the PvE rotation and feel of the class today, which seems fairly solid, not PvP or soloing, which are still changing a lot in the beta.
