Traffic Exhcanges - A useful resource or a waste of time?

Traffic Exchanges are fascinating beasts. If you never come across one before,

let me explain. they are Websites which generate traffic by 'exchanging' website views between members In addition, most Traffic exchanges offer banner exchanges and text link exchanges, so in addition to showing other members your website, you can also create click through adverts for your product or service.

Now the really interesting thing about them is the fact that every member of every exchnage want one thing - traffic to THEIR website.

If you go back to basic marketing 101, one of the basic rules of marketing is that you need to sell the right product to the right person at the right time.

So if everyone on the traffic exchange is only interested in generating traffic to their own website - why would you want to sell them anything other than

traffic to their website?

This seems like a no brainer to me, and yet 1000s of traffic exchange members continue to try to sell different products, mostly health, wealth and happiness

products to them. It seems to me that credits used for this purpose are credits wasted. What possible interest would have in losing weight, if I am focussed on

getting more traffic to MY offer?

Okay so having established that the traffic exchange member is really only interested in one thing, and that thing is not the product you are selling, surely that means that any time spent selling to traffic exchange membership is wasted, right? well you would have thought so but in fact this is absolutely WRONG!

The traffic exchange marketplace can be one of the easiest marketplace to sell to, why, simply because you know what they want.

Imagine for a moment that you could give them exactly what they want, ostensibly for FREE, don't you think, that would make them happy? and you know what they say - a happy customer is easier to convert into a loyal customer and a loyal customer can very easily become an advocate.

So selling to a traffic Exchange member is a somewhat strategic process, the key steps would include:

1. Give them FREE traffic (or a traffic related FREE product)

2. In exchange get them to give you their email address

3. Develop an ongoing relationship with them by giving them more and more of

what they want and at each stage getting a little more information from them.

4. At the right time introduce other appropriate products to them

In other words, applying simple basic marketing techniques allows you to stop hard sell and build up a bank of loyal customers who, before you know it will

will be dragging in other ones.

But, I hear you ask, how can you sell traffic, if you haven't got it to sell?

The answer to this is actually much simpler than you might imagine, if you take a look at any of the traffic exhanges, they all offer affiliate schemes which

either pay you in money, traffic credits or both, so you could build a suite of traffic exchanges into a traffic generating machine and then send the traffic to your customers. So the market delivers the solution and actually helps you to sell to itself!

But if all this sounds a little complicated, don't depair. The good news is that there are schemes already in existence that have already done the spadework for you. One good example is TE Profits. This system was set up by Scott Douglas, a professional surfer and Traffic exchange expert, who has put together is simple to use but very sophisticated marketing system, which once set up allows you to more or less automate the process and thus deliver massive FREE benefits to your list members and also gives you the tools to build the list in the firstplace. I strongly recommend that you take a look.
