There are many characteristics that the individual must have and display in order to efficiently practice as a pharmacist. Many of the characteristics that must be displayed by pharmacist are intangible in nature, and have been developed over many years of education and experiences with others. Due to the intense interpersonal relationships that pharmacists have with their clients, it is important that clients show a higher measure of character and proficiency in their profession than is required by many in other professions. Pharmacists and other medical professionals are viewed as leaders by many of their clients as well as others in the community, and as such are required to demonstrate a higher level of character and integrity than we found in society as we know it.
One of the most important attributes or character traits that a pharmacist can display is patience. Patience must be demonstrated during the performance of all duties that a pharmacist is required to perform. Patience will allow a practitioner of any profession to develop and implement better plans and procedures, due to the better decision-making that is the result of a focused mind, that is developed from patiently performing one's duties. One of the most important functions of patience is to allow an individual to be able to perform their duties with a high degree of accuracy and proficiency, even under the most trying of circumstances. It is imperative that individuals seeking to achieve a high-level of accomplishment in any endeavor to develop the ability to perform their duties in a disciplined manner no matter what the surrounding environmental to conditions are.
The key component to the development of patience is self control or discipline. Once an individual is able to control his emotions, it is more likely that that individual will be able to display patience in the most trying of circumstances. A patient individual is a disciplined individual, and a disciplined individual is a patient individual. Throughout history the greatest leaders have have been patient and disciplined in carrying out their duties, which led them to successful outcomes in the majority of cases.
