Both gold jewelry and gemstone, to keep their beautiful luster and intact, it needs to maintain carefully and clean regularly. What should be careful about washing gemstones?
The first do not uses bleaching water. The chlorine in bleaching water will makes alloys pitted marks, decomposes alloys, and even erodes its welded parts. Its better not to wear jewelry when swimming, because of the water in the swimming-pool contains chlorine.
The second do not use washing-powder, detergent or toothpaste which contained abrasive.
The third should not boil in detergent or vitriol. Most of the jewelry detergent contain ammonia, as well as clean the gemstone; it can also make the gemstone brighter. Ammonia is safe for most of the gemstone, except to pearl and gemstone with thin blowhole (such as pine stone).
The fourth, concentrates for ultrasonic cleaning can avoid the jewelry washing away by the water, that applicable to diamond jewelry, but not for all the gemstone, as it's not suit for some colorful gemstone.
The fifth do not wash in boiling water. Diamond can wash in boiling water, because its physical property is more stable. But some gemstone (such as emeralds, amethyst) is very fragile. The change of external temperature affects the performance of those gemstones. So it should try to avoid boiling water
