The CECT i9 iPhone Clone: Does It Come Preloaded With Skype?

I recently had someone tell me that they had heard that the original CECT i9 was still probably the most popular and best clone to date but they weren't sure if this model included Skype or came with it preinstalled. For the record, I agree with this assessment. And, I also understand why the person who asked this question would want this feature on the i9. This clone is among the lightest, sleekest clones around with very nice firmware and a responsive touch screen. There's a reason why this clone still remains one of the best selling.

But, the answer to this question (at least as I see it,) is that the original i9 does not include WiFi or Skype. I have read claims by people on forums stating that they were able to install an older version of Skype lite and were able to have this work. But, since I have not tried this myself and haven't actually seen this work, I would take this with a grain of salt. That's not to say that it isn't true, but I haven't personally seen it.

However, since the CECT i9 supports Java, you generally do have a lot of options especially if you are wanting to make free or low cost calls and instant messages using Skype. There are java applications available for download that make this possible. Examples are IM plus talk for mobile. IM plus talk only requires an internet connection. As long as your GSM sim card includes data, this should work just fine, even if your phone doesn't have WIFI. (Note that many people use the CECT A100 as the default device for this application download.)

However, I feel like I'm leaving something out if I don't mention that since you have to have internet access anyway, many of the all in one pre paid cards that are so popular with these clones also include both text, talk, and internet usage. Therefore, it sometimes is cheaper and makes more sense to just use the phone to make the calls and to send the texts (since this is included anyway) without needing to go through a 3rd party. I realize that some people want this feature for the video access. But, for calls, using a pre paid sim that includes everything can also be quite inexpensive.

Finally, there is a newer clone that is similar to the i9 that DOES come with Skype pre installed. It's called the airphone, but I have also seen a few sellers incorrectly refer to it as the CECT i9+++. The air phone functions a lot like the i9, but the major difference is that the airphone is a single sim phone rather than a dual sim phone like the 9. Also, the battery is built into the air model and is not removable. However, the upside to this is that the air model is the thinnest clone to date. If you like the sleekness of the 9, then you will love how skinny the air model is. I hope this article has shown you some of the options that might best fit your situation.
