The Claddagh ring is an Irish traditional ring worn as a wedding ring or for friendship. A Claddagh is usually referred by a tiny fishing village located outside the city of Galway.

Though the elements designs were old but they were first originated in the 17th century at the reign of Queen Mary II.

A Claddagh symbolizes a design of the two hands grasping a heart. The element symbolizes the qualities of loyalty - crown, love - the heart and friendship - the hands.

The elaboration of the design, it is surrounded by a pair of delicate hands with a crown above the heart.

Traditionally, the ring is interpreted as a gesture to indicate the wish that LOVE & FRIENDSHIP should reign the supreme.

The ring has its popularity outside Connemara since the middle of the lathst century. Belonging to an extensive group of finger rings called Fede or "Faith Rings" which draws from the Roman Period. The fede ring symbolizes a trust and had its popularity in the period of the Middle Ages throughout Europe.

The Ring worn on the right hand having the crown turned inward means the heart is unoccupied, worn with the crown turning outward reveals love is being considered. The ring worn on the left hand facing the crown outward reveals that the love is being regarded and the heart is truly spoken for.

The ring worn on the left on the left hand with the heart facing outward shows the wearer is engaged , if its turned inwards that it signifies the wear is married.
