The bake element is the heating element inside your oven which makes it possible for you to bake a cake. These are usually made of an alloy of steel and tungsten. Here is a guide on how you can replace this on your own:
1. Before anything else, you need to make sure that you turn off the breaker. The electricity that flows through your oven is enough to get you killed.
2. Take out all the racks inside your oven. If you need more arm space, you can even take off the oven door. This would allow you easier access and more room to work on your oven.
3. Take off the bake element. This oven element can be found at the back part of your oven with two screws holding it in place. If you are not familiar with how it looks like, look for a metal shaped arranged into a square inside the bottom part of your oven. This can usually take much heat so you need to make sure that you have allowed your oven to cool for some time before doing your repair job.
4. This oven element is usually attached to a wire so, once you have pulled out this oven element, put an electrical tape on the wires and then, using a pair of needle-nosed pliers, carefully take the wires off of your bake element. The electrical tape would prevent the wires from sliding back into the hole.
5. Attach the wire into your bake element and then install the mounting screws just like when you removed them from the other oven element. As with the other oven elements, once you have properly installed the bake element, make sure that you test it out. Plug back your oven, turn on the breaker and check if the element glows orange.
