Student Unions: What Can Destroy Such Organizations?

The essence of student unions consists in involving students in an active participation in a college life. All student unions are based on three pillars: democracy, social awareness, and desire to provide changes. This is why students engaged in the organizational processes are always active and enthusiastic. They try to introduce certain amendments contributing to the welfare of their educational establishment. Provided a student union is deprived of such concepts and aspirations, it will be destroyed. What would happen in case all the educational and social values disappeared? 1. Lack of communication. Communication has always been the basis of successful interaction within human society. The same concerns students' interaction. If communication fails, there will be a higher probability of conflicts and misconceptions leading to destruction of values and views. 2. Absence of social, political, and democratic awareness. Each student has the right to express his/her own social and political views. This democratic orientation contributes greatly to the welfare of a college or university because it improves the state of affairs in all layers of an academic process. For example, students should not remain silent when they are not satisfied with the teaching level. Alternatively, there are some problems with literature resources. In case students do not conceal the true problems, an educational establishment is doomed to fail. 3. Indifference to the educational process. For some students, college life is not associated with regular going to classes and doing home assignments. They ignore all the events taking place at college. Such indifference can lead to the fall of progress among students. The ignorance can negatively affect the welfare of student unions as well. 4. Absence of college principal concepts and views. Passive students can hardly contribute to the sustainability and credibility of a college. This is why the organization of student communities can also be out of the question.
