Dog Training Courses: Your Dog Is Not Fooled

Ever heard of the saying that "dogs can sense fear?" Ever heard of a dog that saved a baby in its crib by barking at mom and dad because he could sense there was something wrong?

I often chuckle inside because there is many times where I see someone trying to discipline their dog and even I know they don't mean it.

It has been my experience while trying to train your dog that you need to be in the correct mindset. You have to have confidence in yourself.

Why, you may ask, because your dog can sense whether or not you are confident and if you mean business. Otherwise, they will walk all over you and do whatever they want.

However, it is not just your mindset that has to be right. You also have to have the correct body language.

For exampleif you were to take your dog on a walk, if you walk with a slouched back with your head down it doesn't matter if you feel you have confidence. Confidence has gone out the window because you don't look the part.

Your dog see's and understands a lot more than you may think. Looking the part means standing up tall with your head up, looking out and not down. This shows your dog that you are in charge.

Now, you have your confidence and are making your presence felt. Is that enough? No.

When you train your dog you also have to have the right tone in your voice. In other words, you have to sound serious! I would consider this one of the most important aspects when training your dog.

If you sound silly or playful when giving a command, your dog will think you're being playful and they won't take you serious. You must use your normal voice with the intent that they must obey your command.

So those are three key steps to start with when training your dog believe in yourself or have confidence, portray the appropriate body language by standing up straight, and giving a command that sounds serious not playful.
