A few basic things you need to know to stop snore

Snoring is not only a nuisance to others around you; it is one symptom of sleep apnea which is dangerous to health. This does not mean that if you snore, you have sleep apnea.

Statistics have shown that one third of men snore and that one quarter of their female counterparts also snore. This becomes more prevalent as they grow older.

Snoring is caused when the airway of the throat is obstructed. This obstruction is caused by the relaxation of the soft palate and other tissue during sleep which narrows the airway causing the release of guttural sounds during sleep. The tongue also may block the passageway when you sleep facing upwards.A better position is sideways or belly wise.

Usually the snorer is unaware of the sounds he makes but his partner or whomever he shares the same place he is while asleep is often affected.

Snore may be mild or chronic. Mild snorers may get away with it, but if you find yourself sleeping in the same room with a chronic snorer you will be unable to get any sleep. A lot of chronic snorers are aware of the great inconvenience they cause others during bedtime and are on the lookout for a solution to stop snore.

However today, there is a solution for those who snore. Science and technology has made discoveries on the causes of snoring and invented relevant products to assuage or totally eliminate the inconvenience.

Since they know that the snoring is caused by an obstruction in air passageway, they have created ways to keep the airway open during sleep.

One of these ways is the CPAP machine that pumps in air pressure into the throat to keep it open. The major problem I see with the use of this device is that it makes you look as if you are using a respiratory life support machine.

Snoring makes the snorer tired during the day and also sleepy. This varies in degree to the extent to which it occurs.

Fat people snore more. This does not mean that slip people will not more; in fact there are some slim athletic people who snore a lot.

The reason why fat people snore is that a fat person will have a narrower airway passage due to more fat around the throat.

There are other causes of snoring such as drinking alcohol and smoking.
