subject: Writing Articles Will Increase Exposure To Your Affiliate Site [print this page] Now that you have the hang of distributing your eBook, as well as the banner ads in place, it's time to get your site more exposure. One of the fastest ways to do this is by posting articles and leaving your affiliate link when you do so.
When Google and other search engines rank sites, one of the major components it takes into account is the number of other sites which link back to yours. Also, the more places your link is, the more people will see it.
All of this translates into more people going to your site, seeing the banner, and so on. Simply put, the internet is a numbers game, so we're going to get you some numbers. The bottom line is the more people you have looking at your site, the better all of the other numbers will look - including your income!
There are multiple factors which come into play when site rankings occur, but for the best results it is best to use two simultaneous approaches. First, if you use one of the services out there to blast your article to hundreds of locations, DO NOT ALSO PUT THE ARTICLE ON YOUR PAGE. This can result in what is known as a "duplication penalty".
The second technique is to rewrite articles so that they don't sound like they are identical. This takes a little bit of work, but with practice it will breeze by. If you simply don't have the time, you can usually find someone else to write them for you on one of the many freelance sites out there.
I personally prefer original content, because then on the off chance that people bounce around on the internet (which they do); you don't have to worry about them re-reading your content. Whatever article you post, make sure it's relevant, otherwise you're essentially spamming.
People will never agree on the proper length for articles, but as a general rule I try to keep articles in the range of 300- 500 words. Anything more takes a while to read and if the reader decides they're bored, they won't even get to your link. Keep the articles brief, to the point and informative.
Find sites which you feel your article would be of value to. If you go through and find 100 sites around 5 topics, then by all means write on those five different topics. Your goal here is to find people who are thirsty for your message. It won't be hard. Everyone wants to make more money; it's just a matter of the right presentation.
By writing an article, you are positioning yourself as an authority on the topic. You don't want to seem arrogant or even like you alone hold the secret they are looking for. You simply want to be matter of fact, informative and provide them with a link for more information. In other words, we're putting out commercials, not full length infomercials!
When writing, keep in mind you have readers of varying ages and education who are reading your article, so if you get too technical you will lose many readers. When keeping it simple you broaden your readers. Also, keep in mind that most newspapers are written for an elementary school reading level. A newspaper contains short articles. Despite their length, the articles are informative, on topic, and brief. The pictures and words used are easily interpreted just as your website will be.
Remembering that your audience comes from different education levels and backgrounds is crucial, and using too many modern terms can lose parts of your audience as well. When you write your article or articles, you should feel free to explain terminology you use that may not be readily understood by your audience.
When you are writing, don't forget that you are writing as an authority. Remember earlier, the key words "know, like, and trust". This is the goal - the establishment of a relationship where your readers know, like, and trust you.
Most importantly, you must answer the question "What's in it for me?" You don't need to overdo it, but you can safely offer potential income, or the solving of a common problem. Once your reader has identified what is "in it for them", they are spurred on to obtain the solution, or incentive which you have identified.
Article writing doesn't need to be complicated and in a lot of cases, it's even fun to do. They don't take a great deal of time and the results you can achieve are simply amazing. They can get your site a good amount of exposure and after all, internet marketing is a numbers game.
You won't see results until you've actually put this information to use, so until next time, write a few articles, post them, and watch your sales increase!
