There, I've gone and done it, writing a headline any tabloid would

be proud of. As a British friend of mine would say, "Ev'ry now and

then I enjoy a little bit of tripe, don't you?" Okay. I confess to

reading a tabby ev'ry now and then.

But this story has, as they say about pornography, a bit of socially

redeeming value. I'll get to that a bit later.

A research study shows that men who are financially dependent on

their wives are more likely to be unfaithful. The study shows that

men whose wives significantly outearn them are five times more

likely to have an affair than situations where both contribute

equally to the partnership.

While researchers found no compelling reason for the affairs, they

speculated that it could be a way of reasserting masculinity for the

men. They also speculated that the men had more time on their hands

and also found themselves in many situations involving mostly women,

due to their house husband status.

In the merry old sod, one third of working women earn more than

their husbands and this research could cause quite a lot of

suspicion.

The flipside of this research found that men earning substantially

more than their partners will also cheat.

You just can't win, when it comes to men.

But here's the good news. Only 3.8 percent of men cheated, which was

a substantially lower figure than I anticipated. I would have

guessed it to be much higher, using the medical profession as a

backdrop. Overall, it means that you have a 96 percent chance of

marrying someone who will NOT cheat, given that you make more money

than your spouse, but not substantially more.

Oh... at what rate do women cheat? 1.4 percent. Which proves that

women are better than men at most everything. But we already knew

that, right?

If you're married and you didn't know the correct answer to that

question, you certainly need pharmaceutical grade fish oil, which will

questions like, "Do these pants make my ass look big?" and other
