The mission statement should express the importance of maintaining an environment that supports employee health and safety, and the desire to assist employees in reducing their health risk factors, improving their overall wellness, and maintaining a productive, and active standard of living at home and at work.

The wellness programs mission statement should also include the programs intent to provide wellness services so that employees will have the opportunity to achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Your company's wellness program goals will explain its mission in greater detail. The goals should be based on the areas the company needs to improve, such as health costs, absenteeism, weight, smoking, cholesterol, diet, blood pressure, etc.

Goals should also be developed for the program process itself. An example of a, process goal may include how many workers you want to participate in the programs, how many sessions on a topic will be offered, the kind of wellness sessions that will be implemented, etc.
