Something New From Something Old
My Bible it old. I've had it for over 40 years! I thought of getting a new Bible but I can't part with it because this Bible is part of me. The pages are filled with markings and writings and spiritual thoughts. Some of the pages are dog-eared. It has given me 37 years of comfort, guidance and inspiration. Even though my Bible is old, on a daily basis, I learn new things by reading and pondering the wisdom it contains.
The best part of my Bible is that it can bring new life to someone else when I share its teachings.
Luke 11:33 - No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they may see the light.
The teachings of our Savior, from the Bible may seem old but they are still new and apply to us in this day, just as much as they did in days of old.
Jesus said: feed my sheep.
Those of us who know God's word must do his will and share His Gospel. Those of us who have a testimony of God's word must bring it others so something old- can be something new in their lives.
Mathew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
If we are to have success in sharing the old message of the Bible we must become like Jesus.
We must have love for others. We must be compassionate. We must be of good cheer. We must have faith. We must pray to be lead in righteous ways. We must read our scriptures so we know God's will. These are old messages from the Bible that are just as new today.
Why do we do good works? Why do we try to do the will of The Lord? Why do we never get weary in serving the Lord?
We are preparing the earth for the second coming of our Savior. He will return and we must live our lives so we will be numbered with the righteous when he returns and bring many of our brothers and sisters with us.
It is easy to forget that Jesus is coming again. But He is coming. It says so in my old bible and when The Savior comes I want to know Him because I am like him. I can learn how in my old Bible.
In today's world these old messages are often hard to share but as my wonderful Bible says in Luke 6: 22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company and shalt reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the son of Man's sake
23: Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy; for behold, your reward is great in heaven.
No matter how hard it is to share God's teachings we must have faith that God will show us how to do it. If we do, we will find happiness in this life and in the life to come.
Yes my Bible is old but brings new life to me every day. I pray you too will bring new life into your own life and the life of others by living the old but new teachings of The Bible.
