Woodworking Designs - 13 Steps to a Self Designing End

Our sensations bring pleasure to our being and soul. Just as the gardener loves the feel of the warm earth and the sweet smell of the soil, likewise, the woodworker loves the feel of the life of the wood and the smell of its unique odor. The efforts of the gardener, the efforts of the woodworker both result in substance and beauty.

Woodworking is your passion and you want to spend the majority of your time chiseling and sculpting your project. Let someone else draw up the plans. Just as you want to spend your time cutting and shaping your woodworking project another person has a passion for designing and drawing the plans.

The real key to saving money is by eliminating wasted time, effort, and dollars designing plans that do not work. A simple solution is to invest in someone who has that talent. You will discover it is more economical.

Think back to when you tried your handat woodworking designs and patterns. Did you encounter problems and difficulties? Just so it does not appear that I am picking on you I will use myself as an example.

Steps to self designing end:

Spend hours thinking of a design.

Imagine how the finished project will complete.

Make mental corrections.

Decision is made; I like the design.

Make drawings with specifications and measurements.

Proof and correct errors.

Purchase materials needed.

Cut out patterns.

Assemble patterns.

Foul language screams from my lips. What a mess!

Review whatever can be salvaged.

Throw project into trash bin with disgust and anger.

It is a loss of time, effort, labor, supplies, and a financial disaster.

Lessons learned. I am not a woodworking designer.

Do you have a problem with creating designs? Stop being frustrated and order blueprints and plans from people who specialize in this art form. They have the talent to work out the details and allow you, the woodworking craftsman and enthusiast, to physically convert the blueprints or plans into a well made physical creation. They had their fun and you have your enjoyment.

As a woodworking craftsman, your gift is in your expert hands to bring thoughts into the physical world. Have you decided what your next project will be? Are you considering building garden furniture, a storge shed, pet houses, book shelves, or wooden toys? There is so much to build and so little time.

Perhaps, you are ready to expand your knowledge and learn how to build foundations, how to do construction planning, how to build a pond or how to apply cements and mortar.
