In a typical auction, when people bid on an item of interest, the sale price is driven up. So the more people that are interested in the same item, the higher it will sell for.
But in the Dubli Reverse Auction often referred to as just the Dubli Auction, as people bid on an item the sale price is actually driven down!
To participate in the Express Auction you require "Dubli Credits" as they are the currency of the entire Dubli business. Just like Skype credits or rewards points for example.
The price of a DubLi credit is 80 US cents. And the minimum credit purchase for the customer is 10 Credits. So it would cost $8.00 which is not a major purchase.
In the "Xpress" auction, when the customer finds an item that they are interested in they will see all the relevant details including the value or starting price of the item however what they dont see is the current price.
In order to see the current price, they need to be prepared to spend 1 DubLi Credit (80 cents).
Now you're probably sitting there thinking to yourself - why would a customer be willing to spend 80 cents to see the current price of an item?
It's because when anyone is interested in that same item whether it's 1,000, 100,000 or even a million customers - every time one of them is willing to spend 80 cents to see the current price of the item, the sale price actually decreases by 25 cents.
So the 80c DubLi Credit can potentially save the customer $10, $100, $1,000 or more!
In my case 1 credit saved me around $350 when I purchased a new iPad from the auction.
This is a very exciting proposition and this is what is driving the popularity of this auction. Because as mentioned, this group is driving the price down, not up, as in other auctions.
Anytime a customer is happy with the price and that the customer thinks it's a good deal they can buy the item outright for the price they are looking at.
Then, the auction is closed and another different product is called to the auction to maintain a fixed number of items always running in the auctions.
It is also important to point out that there's no need for the customer to worry about shipping because Dubli will ship their purchase directly to their front door.
