Retiring Abroad

When it comes to retirement, a lot of people realise their dreams of moving abroad. You get a great, relaxed lifestyle and if you move to warmer climes, you have the bonus of sunning yourself on a daily basis. What more could you ask for?

There are, however, important factors that you should consider when making a decision to move abroad. Why do you want to move there? Will you live there permanently, or will you have a second home where you can holiday to for parts of the year. This way, you could rent the house out for the rest of the time and earn yourself a little income to pay for your travels.

Will you be able to cope with cultural differences? If you speak the language, then you may find the move easier, but it is always recommended to travel to the place you are considering moving to a few times before making the commitment to live there.

What is the medical services like and are you entitled to the same car as you get at home? This is rerally important in your older age, as you may have to rely more heavily on the medical service, which may not be as god, or more importantly, as cheap as the NHS.

What is the cost of the property, maintenance and upkeep? Is your money going to convert the same? If the cost of living and exchange rate will give you less money than you have over here, it may be a good reason to stay put.

All things considered, make sure that when you are travelling to your destination to have a recce, that you have a Single Trip Travel Insurance policy.
