The Dead Sea, Israel the lowest spot on earth, and the worlds saltiest body of water, the dead sea is slowly disappearing, due to the River Jordan being diverted elsewhere for irrigation. Get there before its gone!
The Suez Canal the body of water that connects the red sea to the med, the SuezCanal was built as a short cut between the two. It contains no locks, just simply sea water free flowing through the canal. In the olden days it served as great protection against pirates as without it, ships would have had to sail around the cape of Africa, almost doubling their journey time.
The Canals of Venice unique in its set up, Venice is immersed in water, and the best way to travel around is by gondola. Most places have a gondola stop' much like a bus stop for the water transport.
