The Road to Heaven
You Don't Want to Miss This!
September 26, 2002
Dear Mom:
I was talking to saint John the other day about people on earth that do not know how to get into heaven. I never realized how many people have never been told about Christ or how many people have hardened their hearts against the idea of God.
That's way it is so important to share our faith with people who have not been told or taught about Jesus. It is ever Christians' responsibility to share the gospel and the gift of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. To go out into the world and tell people about Jesus is the great commission that Jesus told us was our duty to do as Christians. In fact, it is one of the defining characteristics of being a Christian.
People who believe in God but don't know how to approach Him are general open to hearing about Jesus. People who do not believe in God are another problem all together. Some of these people are the unhappiest people on earth and destined to be some of the unhappiest souls after death unless their hearts can be softened.
The biggest obstacle nonbelievers face is themselves. They are usually so full of pride and worldly knowledge that they cannot see beyond themselves and are unwilling to have faith in anything but themselves and their knowledge of the world. Faith in the unseen is out of the question for these people.
By far one of the best way of getting nonbeliever to be awakened to God's promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ is by the example of living a good Christian life. When a nonbeliever is saved, all of heaven sings out. Believe you me this is a rare occasion due to their choice of self sufficiency which may work well on earth but leads to utter damnation when they die.
Mom, you showed me, and by faith I believed, that the way to heaven is a narrow path. We must believe in Jesus and all that He is. When we do this with all our heart, than we can be counted as one of His children.
Everything else we do as Christians is done to honor our Heavenly Father. We do not need to do good deeds to get into heaven. We do good things out of respect and love for our heavenly Father. I know now that the thing He wants most from us is to preach His word throughout the world so everyone on earth has the opportunity to come to Him through His Son Jesus.
Well I have another meeting with Peter and Paul. They want to discuss having another person join us. I think that would be great!
Love Always
