I needed to make an adjustment to the current lane I was traveling. The car in front of me was going just too slow. It was my intention to get into the left passing lane until I could see the slow moving car in my side view mirror. Upon seeing the slow moving car in my side view mirror, I would then cut back over into the right lane just in front of the slow moving car, which was my lane of choice. While in the left lane making my attempt to pass the slow moving car, I became preoccupied with the fast driver in front of me. No one could maintain the same speed this car had, any one in the same lane of this particular car had to move over to the right lane of traffic allowing this fast moving car to pass.
With all my windows down, and my high rate of speed used to pass the slow moving car, a strong wind gush snatched out all my good sense and wisdom along with the unsecured sheets of facial tissue from my front car seat. The pride and ego in me became my own personal cheering section encouraging me to keep and maintain the same high rate of speed; making it known it had nothing on me.
My only problem, I was traveling too close, too fast, and too soon to the fast moving car in front of me. I had not given myself enough time to know the character or motive of this fast moving car.
All of a sudden, the high speed car came to an unannounced stop. I grabbed the steering wheel with all my might and stepped on the brakes causing my tires to cry out aloud with the unpleasant scent of hot rubber. I demanded the steering wheel to the right; the left lane was no longer my lane of preference. While still maneuvering to the right lane I just missed tap dancing with the high speed car in front of me. Still steering out of control, I caused an 18-wheeler to choose a path of road unknown to his GPS just to avoid hitting me. I managed to make it to the edge of the road that revealed a wet grassy ditch hidden from the daily traffic computers
When I regained consciousness, I was face down in long wet evergreen grass. All I could do was morn due to the terrible pain from the bumps and burses. My prayer was a cry as a sheep in need of a shepherd (I already had the grass part down to a science). Right there in the mist of my condition the Lord comforted me. In the mist of my trouble, the Lord helped me.
Scripture
Psalm 40:2(New International Version)
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for your unconditional love that delivers us out of life's pits and mud holes we have often created for ourselves.
