By now Warren and Maureen had dated for seven months. Warren could not have been happier but Maureen still had her doubts and thoughts that caused her to ask Warren did God just say, "Maureen here is your reward. I offer you Warren Greenan." ?
Maureen was a devout catholic and her fatih has carried her all her life. Her mother taught her that. Maureens father died of a heart attack when she was 6 years old. Her brave and saintly mother lived with the children and Maureen was the oldest. Her mother was a Doctor as was her father. Maureen helped raise the other children as they grew up and church was the major grounding force in her life. Warren was Catholic too, and his feelings for Maureen had him going to church at every opportunity that presented itself.
Warren heard the question and as so often was the case with this beautiful and bright woman, he listened. " I should not fight this. I should just give in. Even though you are the very first person I have dated since my marriage that ended in divorce six years ago. God just said Maureen has suffered enough. Let's giver her everything she wants in a man. A man that worships the ground she walks on. A man that is happiest when he makes me happy. A man that loves my kids and is good to them and so understanding. Did God just go down the list one thing after the other, Oh and let's not forget ice cream. He will give Maureen a man that will sit with her and go for ice cream any time she asks, and just talk. And kissing too. God said we have to give Maureen one of the worlds best Kissers ever? All that too?. He will listen as well as he talks and be sounderstanding I will have thought I died and went to heaven. Is that what God is saying to me Warren?
It was Warren's turn to tak after that rant ofpart panic,part joy,part bewilderment at her situation and the need to move to the next level. "Listen Sweetie," Warren said with that blue eyed smile of his so understanding and calm as he looked in her eyes and kissed her lips softly. "That is exactly what God said", a big proud smile crossing Warrens face as he looked at Maureen pulled her close to his chest and kissed her soft neck and ears then he wispered , "can we go for some ice cream?".
