What shall we do when we accidentally delete partition? This could happen if you misused disk management in Windows system. It often happens when you meant to do some other command in disk management but mistakenly clicked delete partition and then your partition is gone. It may no longer exist in Disk Management. And together with some other partition lost situation like bad partition table (partition was damaged by virus, you may no longer see your partition and it lost without your awareness), bad MBR, bad boot sector etc.

The right thing to do is to keep the disk untouched until you find some read-only utility that can restore files from lost partition like iCare Data Recovery Software with its "Lost Partition Recovery" module designed to restore files from missing partitions, bad partition table, deleted partitions etc.

Partition table is the structure that makes partitions usually c:, d:, e:, f:, and marks them the initial sector, the ending sector Partition table is the partition basics when you finished formatting hard disk for use and create partition with diskpart command or create partition under disk management in Windows System.

When deleted partition, the data contained in the partition was not deleted altogether with the partition, Windows will alter the partition table information once you deleted a partition by marking the disk space free for redistribution. And usually you will see blank place under Disk Management once you deleted a partition. Again, the data in the deleted partition is not really deleted since data storage in computer is complicated and only new data accepted in the place where old files stored could make the old files gone permanently.

Notice: never touch the disk which has deleted partition since any new operation may accept new data and makes the deleted partition files overwritten by new files. And the wired thing is if the file is small byte, it may take up a little space on the disk, if new files accepted but did not damage the old small file, you will be lucky to restore the old small file but also need some special utility like iCare Data Recovery Software.

How much files you are able to restore with undelete partition utility depends on how much new files accepted. If you delete a partition and it has 2GB files, the chance of lost file recovery depends on the new file size. Suppose the new file totals 10MB, then there is still a lot of chance for you to restore most of your files. But be aware of the larger a single file is, the harder for you to restore it and make it still readable since large files get corrupted easily.
