God Is Always With Us
Even When It Hurts
May 28, 2002
Dear Mom:
I overheard a conversation about a single mom that God and Satan were discussing that I want to share with you. It seems there was a woman that believed God had abandoned her and did not give her anything but misery and unhappiness. So unhappy was this woman that, at a very young age, she sinned repeatedly under the pretense that the only happiness this world has to give is the happiness one steals from it even if it means hurting others to get it.
As God and Satan watched this woman, Satan had a smirk on his face, while God looked on with tears in his eyes. When God saw the smirk on Satan's face, He became incensed with the devil. At this moment, even though it is shunned upon, I had to see this woman. Mom, the women I saw was you! I never knew. You never shared with me how unhappy you were in life at one time with God.
I could only look for a while on the heinous things that had happened to you. I was shocked that people you loved and trusted did these things to you. People who are sick, twisted and ungodly are easy marks for Satan. Yes, Satan is actively roaming the earth for these types of people to use against those whose names are written in the book of Life.
Even as Satan was using these people to hurt you, God was shielding you from even greater hurt and trauma. Things even you cannot imagine that these people were capable of doing. God's perfect plan requires a person such as yourself who was strong enough to endure great pain and suffering for the benefit of His kingdom.
God chose you for this as He once chose Paul at the beginning of the Christian church. Prior to being chosen, God allowed Paul to torture and even kill followers of Christ. Once Paul was converted, he suffered floggings, beating, shipwrecks, prison and the continual threats of death for his beliefs in Christ. Jesus chose him out of all the people on the earth to preach the gospel to the very same people he abused. God chose this man because He knew Paul would preach with the same fervor he used when he was against the Christians.
Anyway, when Satan took credit for these things God's furry raged. He told Satan he would pay dearly for hurting one of god's little children as will all who hurt God's Children.
Satan was obviously shaken by this remark. Satan no longer had a smirk on his face. In fact, he abruptly left the unfinished conversation. I'm told this happens often. Apparently evil, when faced with absolute righteousness, is powerless and cannot defend itself.
I'm sorry I must go for now. I have another meeting with Peter and Paul. I promise to write soon and explain why God allowed these things to happen to you.
Love Always
