subject: Dairy Free Brownies And Other Delicious Snacks [print this page]

It has not always been possible for people with lactose intolerances to eat dairy free brownies or other tasty treats, but these days there are so many more choices for products that there have been in the past. Part of the reason for this progress is the fact that society has just advanced to allow for the technology to research the offending ingredients and process foods that do not contain these, and the other part of the reason is that there are more people than ever who are recognized as being lactose intolerant. These are the people who often also love chocolate, which means that having dairy free brownies and other delicious chocolates is essential.

There are other ingredients that often cause problems for many people, one of which is gluten. Gluten is a protein that is found in wheat and in other grains such as barley, rye, bulgar, kamut, spelt, durum and different oats. Some of the common foods that these ingredients might be found in include soy sauce, semolina, hydrolyzed veggie proteins and artificial colors. Casein is another protein, and this one is found in milk and other dairy foods like yogurt, ice cream, butter, cheese, whey and some margarines. Some soy cheeses and even hot dogs contain this ingredient, so it might be a good idea to watch for this ingredient if you are someone who does not tolerate dairy well any dairy free brownies will not have this casein in it.

In addition to people with lactose intolerance, other people that may benefit from staying away from casein and gluten are people who have autism. It is thought that eliminating these ingredients in people with this or similar disorders can improve focus and behavior as well as other things too. Many parents and doctors claim to see improvement in the behavior and speech in children after they have adhered to a strictly wheat and dairy free diet. In addition, many other symptoms including loose stools, diarrhea and others decrease significantly it seems when these ingredients are not present in the diet. This all may be significant because there may be a link between gastrointestinal problems and autism. Many children with autism also seem to have vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and other problems. Many people believe that eliminating the wheat and indulging in dairy free brownies can really improve many different aspects of life for a lot of different people.
