Pros and cons of buying a watch phone

Watch cell phones are quite new type of gadgets and as it named the phone is relatively small, with few models available on current market, but this is not the problem. The issue lies in whether it is worth buying a watch with a mobile function or not, so in this post I'll try to present the options to you, pros and cons of making a purchase, what difficulties you should expect from such a product and then formulate a conclusion.

Before the two lists, let's try and define what a watch phone is: from technical point of view, a watch cellphone is a phone designed in the shape of a watch. It always features a touchscreen (with an additional stylus for precision moves) and must be worn on your wrist, exactly like a watch.

PROS

Now, let's see the list of pros points of a watch phone as I guess most of them you didn't even knew existed:

A watch phone replaces two devices: a wrist watch and a cellphone, so there's less luggage to carry arround in your pockets

It usually comes with a Bluetooth headset in the package, making it almost usable on a daily basis

It's easier to see if you have any missed calls or SMS messages

A watch phone is always in reach, so you won't miss a call or new message (this can also be regarded as a weak point, in case you don't want to be reached). The alarm function will also be really loud as it's closed to the ear, so you won't fall asleep anymore in the morning when you have to go to work.

CONS

At last, the list of cons you might want to think about when buying a watch phone:

A watch phone's size is much bigger than a normal wrist watch, making it not a fashion statement and hard to match with your clothes

Because it weights almost as much as a phone it's hard to wear it all day long, and your hand gets tired after a few hours

The screen for the screen is very small, thus lacking precision so that many times the menu options are hard to access, even with the stylus

Always phone functions are mostly basic (Calls, Messaging, Phonebook), so if you need more than that you won't be satisfied with a watch phone

Having a Bluetooth headset paired to the watch phone means there's another gadget that needs to be charged regularly. Also it increases the chance (actually doubles it) that one of them runs out of juice at one time and you don't want to use the speaker as everyone near you can hear what you have to say.

Every watch phone uses its special operating system, so not much of support here from software developers, so even if you can install additional applications the offers is very limited.

There I think are the most important things to remember about watch phones. It's still a virgin market but that doesn't means it can't grow up into a big one, but all this depends on consumers interest in this concept.
