Kyocera Mita KM-2030 100 Pound Desktop Copy Machine

Using digital technology to unlock a wide range of copy features, the Kyocera Mita KM-2030 digital copy machine gives buyers who are still looking for a stand alone unit a plausible option, while including connectivity features for those who also wish to use the machine as a printer and scanner as well. This extra large unit shows its age with its ridiculous size and weight, but still holds its own against current copy technology.

While the Kyocera Mita KM-2030 does weight over a hundred pounds (102 lbs not including paper), and has dimensions of 22 in. x 24 in. x 22 in. (W x D x H), it doesn't exactly operate at the levels one would expect for a unit this large. Because it is so old, it outweighs the competition by at least double, but is certainly not worth throwing away just yet. With a first copy out time of only 5.5 seconds, the copier is as fast as anything you'll see out there today.

Its print speeds have a strange inconsistency, with letter size printable at up to 20 pages per minute and legal size falling way behind to only 11 pages per minute. Oversized / ledger paper is also compatible with the unit, raising its value quite a bit to some businesses, and it can print to the format at a speed of up to 10 pages per minute. Resolution settings consist of either 600 x 600 dot per inch quality with 256 levels of tone, or fast 1200 dot per inch resolution.

The Kyocera Mita KM-2030's 30,000 page per month maximum duty cycle means that it can sustain a decent amount of abuse and high volume printing, and can handle the stress of a very small network. A built in network card takes the copier beyond the realm of stand alone or single PC setups and allows for multiple users to connect at once, and even simultaneously perform tasks. For an office with light print demands, a small, single network MFC such as this could be ideal.

The copy machine features various imaging modes that include text, photo, text / photo, auto, manual, and ECO. Continuous copy is selectable up to 250 at once with an auto reset back to 1. Other user friendly copy features include auto magnification and paper select, book mode, combine image, erase mode, image rotate, interrupt, and margin shift, all made possible by digital copy technology that allows for stand alone copy editing without the use of a PC.

A very unique reversing automatic document feeder with a huge 70 sheet capacity allows for double sided input to be loaded automatically by mechanically flipping each page and scanning both sides. For certain types of operations, this feature could potentially save literally hundreds of hours worth of work. While the Kyocera Mita KM-2030 is an oddly bulky machine, it, admittedly, does incorporate a great deal of hardware into a single device, and can print to oversized paper, making it useful for some.
