This article is part two about leveraging Twitter to generate free leads, if you are a beginner, make sure to go back to the first article, and learn how to get started before reading on about this article, or even if you are familiar with Twitter, maybe still go back and read the first one, just to make sure you are doing the very vital but simple steps in managing your Twitter account. First lets talk about our target market of people we are following daily, following the steps I talked about in part one. This is going to depend mostly on your business, but as an example, you are a internet marketer, most of us know that a large part of internet marketers are in MLM, or for those not familiar with the term, Multi Level Marketing. MLM members, would be great people to target and follow, and later on or in another article, we will talk about how you can use another program to pinpoint your targeted prospects. The reason MLM members are generally good targeted prospects, is simple because, most people in MLM are making little to no money at all. Most have not realized the MLM platforms are not made for you to make a bunch of money in the short term. The top earners in MLM, are the ones who have a massive down line and members under them, but that is a topic for another day.
Now back to your targeted prospects, you can definitely just add who ever you want, but look at it like Facebook. I do not know if you are leveraging Facebook to generate leads, and I will definitely have articles out soon on that, but the reason I am bring it up is because with Facebook, you only get 5000 friends to add to your friend list. So, you can see that someone who does not pick their friends or prospects wisely, will definitely lose out on potential business sales, or partnerships, etc, because they did not find profitable friends, like I like to call it. You should consider Twitter the same way, you know your building your list high, and things seem great, but three quarters of your list are teenagers and people who do not have any business or are not even interested in starting a business or working from home.
So a way you can get good targeted prospects starting off, is to follow the top earners in your industries followers, so, follow their followers. Lets take MLM, a name that comes to my head immediately is, Mike Dillard, top earner, great guy, and many followers on Twitter. So, find out who the top earners are, and they do not have to be just in your industry, you know, business or marketing in general, copy writing, famous article writers, you name it. Follow their followers, this is a great way to start off getting those prospects and friends, that are profitable, like we like to say. A good way to not spend much time following new individuals everyday, is to pick two people that are now following you, and follow the amount you are following daily according to where you are with your Twitter account, like we discussed in part one. So, again, follow two followers of you, and do the number you are following daily, just a way for you to save time, so you are not constantly jumping to new peoples pages and taking longer than necessary.
You definitely do not need to be on Twitter all day, most of us have day jobs, so one thing you should be working on as you go get better at managing your account, is to find ways to bring your time spent down. Again I will discuss a program you can use to bring down time spent on Twitter, should you choose, called Social Oomph. I will save that for another article, but a great way to manage not only Twitter accounts, but all your social media accounts, is by using Social Oomph. Okay, one rule of thumb that I have when it comes to following people that I am looking to follow me back on Twitter and Facebook actually, is their profile picture. I never follow someone that does not have their picture in their profile, you know the people who use the default picture, or some pile of cash or something along those lines. You just get the feeling like this person is trying to hide something from me, or they are to lazy to take the time and put a good picture up, so people can see you and want to follow you.
Remember, this is SOCIAL MEDIA, not putting up a picture is pretty much defeating the whole purpose of having your account in the first place. So, that is something I consider when adding people I want to follow me, and it looks more professional on your part when someone looks at your account and looks at your followers, and you have face after face after face, plus they will love that when they are using your account to follow people they want to follow them, unless they do not mind people with no picture.
Something to stay away from, is adult profiles, adult MLM, etc, it is not going to look very professional on your part when you have multiple people you follow with half naked women as their profile picture. Remember in a business, your image and character means a lot to someone when they are considering buying something from you, or just networking with you in general. I would definitely recommend staying away from that completely.
That is mainly what I wanted to discuss in this article for part two, leveraging Twitter to generate free leads, the people you follow and that follow you back, will make a major difference in your success, along with your ability to provide value to people and really establish your presence online like I discussed in part one. Remember the equation:

You can have all the skills in the world, but if never put them into action, and proper action, you will see zero success. You may be the most ambitious person, and are putting one hundred and ten percent in every day, but you are not acquiring skills and building your value, you will have zero success. Any thing times zero, no matter how big of a number, will be zero, just something to remember, and the importance of both.
