subject: Picking A True Designated Driver [print this page]

No matter what time of the year it is, people all over this country are venturing out almost daily for a night out on the town with friends. It seems lots of those people also tend to drink when they head out. Some plan to drink heavily, but some don't. No matter how much you think you may or may not drink, you should really consider having a designated driver with you.

Designated drivers can certainly be a life saving tool for everyone on the road. Not just for the people that have chosen to drink, but for those individuals that are not drinking and using the roads to go to and from places. Certainly protecting the lives of everyone on the road should be on the minds of anyone operating a motor vehicle under any condition.

Who makes for a good designated driver? Obviously, a good designated driver is someone who has nothing at all to drink and who takes their responsibility for the safety of others seriously.

Another way to possibly get home safely might be a cab driver. Using a taxi service can help prevent you from getting into any drunk driving situation that could be harmful to you and others.

You might consider planning all of this ahead of time. Keeping everyone's safety in mind along with your own should be very important.

If you do find yourself in a situation where you have driven to an establishment and had too much to drink, please consider sleeping it off at a nearby hotel or asking the business to help you get home.

A responsible place that serves alcohol should be one that cares for their patrons. This caring attitude may be that they do not let you drink too much, they might take your keys from you, or they might call you a cab to help you get home safely.

Please act responsibly and don't drink and drive. Believe it or not there are many people on the roads out there that are counting on you being safe.
