Having never built a gun before I was a little afraid of what it may entail !! I do have a few friends that have built AR15's before so I did have a few people to turn to in case I ran into any trouble.
First I had to decide what I wanted to build, There are so many different configurations for an AR15 that it is mind boggling. After about a month of researching the different configurations I decided on a 24" bull would fit the bill.
Next I had to decide on where I wanted to purchase the parts kit from. This was the hardest part as there are so many different companies to buy what I wanted from. I decided to go with KB-mfg.com They are a newer company but I couldn't find anything negative about them on the internet. So I figured what the heck lets do it!!
So I called them at 903-476-5836 and talked to a lady there that was extremely nice and knew the answer to everything I had to ask. They had the best price out of all the other companies I had researched. I placed the order last Friday and received my kit the following Tuesday. I was totally surprised at how quick their service was.
So onto the build. A friend came over to give me a hand with my build. It took us about an hour to put everything together. We didn't have a single problem with any of the parts received. Everything dropped right into place and fit perfectly. All the parts were top quality and everything had a very nice parkerized finish on it. The barrel had a very nice high polished finish to it. Now we just have to see how it shoots!!!
On to the range!! We mounted a Leupold Mark 4 ER/T scope and began the sight in process. Which took all of 4 rounds to get it centered. Our first group for 5 shots went .625 center to center which I thought was awesome for having built this myself!!!! Then my friend who reloads his ammo had some 223 rem that he had loaded with Sierra 77gr hpbt matchking bullets, Now the groups were getting impressive!! first group he shot went .2 center to center
the following groups were all about the same.Cant wait to see what this AR15 will do once the barrel in broken in!!
