ANALYSIS BASED ON OUTCOME

This are very useful tools and applications for those who soley require gameplay information at its most generic. According to Dr. George Serrallach, Managing Director and Head of Development at Verusco Technologies, for truley valuable analysis one must dig a little deeper.
One of the key differences between Verusco's products and many other data analysis programs surrounds the notion of "analysis based outcome". Basically, these analysis products aim to present the successful or failed result of a played match. This can be escpecially useful for coaches studying past game results or forecasting for upcoming teams.
EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE...WE'LL BE WATCHING YOU
In order to record live game data, each match is observed by a collective team of "coders". Each team of "coders" are responsible capturing thier own aspect of the match. During each game, easy analysis is available for teams on the spot, such as number of opposing takles, team passing percentage, fumbles. The real magic happens after the game, with video analysis. Dr. George Serrallach, Managing Director and Head of Development of Verusco says that this type of data collection is vital to ensure accurate outcome analysis. "The (data analysis conducted) after the game, is quite different," he explains. "We go frame by frame and enter what has happened on the ground." The movement of each player is meticulusly scruntinized, by location, time, skill, and quality. Dr.Serrallach's analytical methodology further break-down the charactaristic of "quality" to various levels of success, are then applied to a point system. This point system, says Dr.Serrallach, is the foundation onto which Key Performance Indicators are built upon.
"TECHNICAL PROGNOSTICATION" OF SORTS
Verusco has established itself as a world leading source for statistical coding over 200 Rugby matches a year. Each team in the Australian Rugby league has Verusco's data available to them, the question remains: do teams use it to thier advantage? Dr. Serrallach highlighted the fact that Verusco's systems can predict the outcome of future matches based a team's previous 4-10 games. "The All Blacks played Australia and I said they would lose (by a margin of) 10 and 15 points." In that game, just as Dr.Serrallach predicted, the All Blacks lost by 15 points. "The probability was 75% (the All Blacks) would lose by 10 and 15%."
PLAY THE GAME, WITHOUT THE EYE-GOUGES
Verusco has also developed Playbuilder, a virtualized analysis tool so that coaches and players can view a simulation of any game, past or present. Every single movement coded during each game is assigned unique identifier and stored in Verusco's massive proprietary database. Each movement is then allocated to an animation, which the user can apply as part of a simulated game. Since each frame has many diffent player actions within it, the 3D animation provides a realistic representation of what might occur in a similar play in a "real" match. In going one step further, Dr. Serrallach explained how Playbuilder can allow teams to be a part of the virtual match. "You can go into the eyes of the player and see what a player he sees." Each movement of the players can be virtually recreated so that realistic match plays are simulated. Since Playbuilder is based on the actual tendencies of players, teams are able to predict the outcome of any situation, as well as those of opposing teams.
