Variety and Types of Cutlery Sets
Variety and Types of Cutlery Sets

Different knifes from a standard cutlery set are used while preparing for cooking. It is often noted that most of us do not buy an entire cutlery set, but instead we buy only a part of it. People buy cutlery sets and even flatware as per their requirement as has a variety of knifes, most of which cannot be used at the same time, whatsoever. However, there are certain type of knifes from cutlery sets which you would use on daily basis.

Do I need the entire cutlery set? This is a personal question but it is recommended to buy the entire set at one go as not only does it look good but it seems convenient as you cannot predict what type of knife you would suddenly require while cooking.

As per your budget, cutlery sets differ in terms of size, design and finishing. In addition, with cheap and duplicate cutlery sets entering the market, the traditional belief that your kitchen's style quotient is directly dependant on your budget is no longer valid. These cheap duplicate items are best avoided.

There are certain knifes which form a part of most cutlery sets and are often used more than other knifes. Some important knifes in a standard cutlery and their uses are discussed below.

Pairing Knifes

This type of knife is smaller in size and is often called as the midget knife' but it is quite handy. It is mostly used for peeling and coring of vegetables, fruits and other items. Many chefs and even common people use other knifes for peeling and coring so pairing knife's use differs person to person, but one thing is sure, every chef uses it at some point of time..

Serrated Knifes

Serrated knifes are used to cut soft items or eatables evenly with convenience. These are not used often.

Versatile Knifes

Versatile knifes like the name suggests are used for a variety of purposes from chopping to dicing. The best advantage of this knife is that it can be substituted for many other types of knifes. Even slightly hard items can be cut easily and evenly with a versatile knife.

While buying or gifting cutlery sets, make sure you buy the entire set at one go to get even with financial aspects (buying in parts is expensive but utility of the knifes is more).
