subject: How To Play Poker Playing Cards [print this page]

If you want to have a really enjoyable game of poker, it is essential that the poker playing cards you are using for your poker game are good quality and in good condition.

Lets face it, there is nothing worse when playing a game of poker, particularly Texas holdem poker, than when the poker playing cards are not of good quality or are in bad shape.

You cant see the card value properly, there are creases and bends in the cards, the deck is compromised because every player at the table knows the poker playing card with the mark on it is the Queen of diamonds.........weve all been to a game like that I am sure!

The fact is, it is imperative for the quality and integrity of the poker game that the poker playing cards are fresh, unmarked, unbent and in no way identifiable by way of imperfections or alterations either by an accident or purposely done by a cheating player.

Thats why it is important to keep a few fresh poker card decks on hand for every game, just in case the cards become compromised.

Its true thought, that if you purchase top quality poker plastic cards, these problems will be much less likely, and the deck will give you a good life span when playing poker games regularly.

Poker cards can be made of paper (pressed) or nowadays more common is plastic coated or even 100% plastic playing cards.

Pressed uncoated cards are quite uncommon now, as these tend to wear out rather quickly and are prone to damage quite easily, we would advise to stay away from cheap unbranded poker card decks like these.

Moving up the quality chain there are plastic coated cards which give much more resistance to marking and creasing, and will last a long time if treated with respect.

More recently, 100% plastic poker card decks have been very popular in the market, this is because these are hard wearing, bendable and can last for a long time with heavy use.

Whichever type of card you choose, the important factors still remain the same.......... buy a deck of cards that are from a recognised high quality manufacturer, like KEM or Copag which come to mind as good quality companies to buy from.

Decks of playing cards can come in many styles as well, from traditional format through to jumbo numbering and a wide array of fonts and graphics. There is no real standard apart from the traditional deck, what you choose is really up to your preference of what looks good to you and is easy to read.

Card decks also come in a range of colours, design and prints for the top side of the card, and again it is up to your preference of style, the important factor is quality.

So whether you are playing poker once a week or ten games per day poker playing cards are so important to the enjoyment of the game, choose a deck that you like the look of and is easy to read, but has the quality to last.
