Hard Working Life of a Trainee Marine

The Monday after we got back it was back to the normal schedule of PT session and Kettlebells. We had been given a training plan as part of our final address, which meant Monday was meant to be a rest day, but these sessions are a good blast, so worth sacrificing a rest day for. Tuesday was a 3mile run only at 8min mile pace.

Wednesday was the first detachment night as a Royal Marine Recruit. I had prepped my kit so that I looked good, polished my boots so they were gleaming after the abuse they had had. I got to the det and was talking away and then remembered I hadn't shaved School Boy error!

There was nothing I could do, so had to hope we wouldn't be inspected (long shot, but you never know). It wasn't my day we had a kit inspection. The sergeant got to me and ripped into me (quite deservedly), it was not a good start. Needless to say I have now brought some disposable razors to keep in my kit bag. The night was a bit of an anti-climax.

Being a recruit didn't feel any different; I think this was just because we didn't have the kit. We were also expecting to do some phys (as per the plan), but this didn't happen and before we knew it we were off home. On the Thursday I played 5 aside football and then in the evening went to the gym to complete the circuit we missed on the Wednesday. Again Thursday is meant to be a rest, but to me it is important to complete the plan.
